Philadelphia 76ers point guard Michael Carter-Williams was named the NBA Eastern Conference player of the week on Monday. Carter-Williams joins Shaquille O’Neal as the only two rookies to earn the honor in the first week of their NBA career. Shaq was started his career in 1992 for the Orlando Magic. MCW lead the Sixers to a surprising 3-0 start vs Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls. He averaged 20.7 points, 9.0 steals and 4.3 assists.

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man in West Philadelphia early Sunday that apparently stemmed from a dispute over double parking. The incident happened just before 3 a.m. in the 100 block of North Dewey Street in Cobbs Creek. Authorities say the unidentified man was shot once in the chest after he got into a dispute with a 25-year-old armed security guard who was double parked on the same block.

The hybrid solar eclipse (or an annular/total solar eclipse ) is an extremely rare occurrence. The gunman suspected of using an assault rifle to open fire on TSA agents inside Los Angeles International Airport this morning is originally from South Jersey. 23-year-old Paul Ciancia has a family address and grew up in Pennsville, Salem County, N.J. Parents of a North Penn elementary school child have been arrested for unlawfully entering a school bus and threatening children. Christina and Christopher Gring greeted the bus from North Wales elementary. Their son came off the bus in tears, saying he was being picked on. Pennsylvania is spending $1-million in taxpayer dollars to advertise the voter ID law, even though the future of the law is uncertain. The voter ID ads tell voters to "show it." $700,000 in tax payer dollars is being spent on TV ads, nearly $200,000 on radio and the rest on targeted print ads. The Pennsylvania SPCA says that Humane Law Enforcement Officers are investigating a possible case of cat hoarding at the former home of Grace Kelly. Officers served a warrant at the home on the 3900 block of Henry Avenue in Philadelphia’s East Falls section. Shane Victorino played a big role in last night's deciding victory as the Boston Red Sox won game 6 from the St. Louis Cardinals to clinch the 2013 World Series. Mayor Michael Nutter drops his opposition to a City-Council passed plan to sell vacant school buildings to raise much needed cash for the Philadelphia School District. The Mayor gathered with Council President Darrell Clarke and several members of City Council late Wednesday afternoon to announce he had reached what he labeled a compromise on the school fund plan. Essentially, the city will put up $50 million and work with the school district to help it sell vacant properties.

A teenage girl was struck and killed by two vehicles while walking to the bus stop this morning in Vineland, NJ. She has been identified as 14-year-old Alexa Strittmatter. She died at the scene of the crash on South Main Road between Magnolia Road and East Elmer Road at 6:45 a.m. Her brother and sister were also walking to the bus when she was hit. She was a freshman at Vineland High School North.
