The case captivated an audience for years. In the trial of Casey Anthony, the 25 year old single mom, charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee, the jury found Anthony not guilty of the most serious charges.

The Barnes Museum on Latch's Lane in Merion hosted its final visitors last weekend. For the first time since 1922, the galleries of the Barnes Foundation will no longer be open to the public. For years, the Barnes Museum, on 12 acres in Lower Merion Township has been the center of debate. First there was a movement to relocate it, then when the move to Philadelphia became imminent, a movement to see it stay.

The collection of Impressionist and early Modern works was... Read More

With negotiations between the NFL owners and players heating up, business may reboot sometime within the next few weeks.

Many say The Eagles will be one of the teams that could pull off several moves only hours into the new league year. Here is their likely order of business once the trigger is pulled:

1. Figure out franchise and transition tags.
Almost no one around the league expects teams to have both the franchise and transition tags - as they did before... Read More

The 4th of July has come and gone but kickball is here to stay. One of the favorite summertime neighborhood games of youth is seeing a resurgence among adults in Philadelphia.

It is now selling out rec leagues and dominating field reservations year-round in the city and across the globe.

Kickball plays like softball's demented little brother. The pitcher rolls a large, bouncy ball toward a kicker, rather than a batter. When the ball is kicked into play, fielders... Read More

  by: Rebel - Havertown, PA
started: 06/30/11 7:26 am | updated: 06/30/11 7:26 am

The school district's budget problems are not over.

The state Legislature restored only $22 million from the nearly $300 million that Gov. Corbett slashed.

Philadelphia district and city officials hoped that City Council's vote to raise property taxes by nearly 4 percent might have led to more cash from the state.

City Council last week approved the 3.85 percent, one-year property-tax hike, and parking-meter rates were also increased, to send an... Read More
