Allentown Fire Injures Firefighters, Cop Killer Had Been Imprisoned, Child Advocates Question System

Authorities are investigating the cause of a four-alarm fire in Allentown that injured five firefighters Thursday morning. The fire quickly reached four-alarm status and damaged eight row homes, displacing several families. Five firefighters suffered heat exhaustion and dehydration. Firefighters were pulled from the building due to danger of structure collapse.

Philadelphia School Partnership raises $50 Million; Lennon's Killer Denied Parole for 7th Time

Mark David Chapman has been denied parole for the 7th time after a hearing in front of a three member board on Wednesday. Chapman was sentenced in 1981 to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. Chapman shot and killed former Beatle John Lennon outside his New York Apartment building, the Dakota, in December 1980. Kanye West might be the next to judge hopeful contestants on American Idol. Reports say that the producers have reached out to him about judging next season. Although he has expressed interest, he has not given a formal answer yet. FOX would probably need to pay hime at least $18 million to match Mariah Carey's judging salary, but have made no comment on whether they would be wiling to do that.

Philadelphia Police and US Marshals have detained 23 year old Rafael Jones of North Philadelphia in connection with the murder of off duty police officer, Moses Walker. Jones failed to report to the probation office Wednesday and was arrested. Jones has a history of robbery and weapons arrests.

Philadelphia Police have taken a 'person of interest' into custody for the killing of Officer Moses Walker Jr. The unidentified man was arrested this afternoon around 3pm at the Bartram Village Apartments in Southwest Philadelphia after failing to report for a probation appointment. He was transported to the Homicide Unit and is currently being interviewed. He is being held on an outstanding bench warrant for missing that probation appointment. Philadelphia has the first independently run Catholic school system in the United States. Archbishop Charles Chaput signed a 5 year agreement with the recently formed, Faith in the Future, to manage Philadelphia's 17 high schools and 4 special eds. Grade schools will still be managed by the individual parishes.
