It was a surprise welcome home for a young soldier in Cherry Hill over the weekend. Francesca "Chessie" Vollaro returned from a tour in Afghanistan three weeks ago. The 21 year old graduated high school in 2010 and was surprised by a gathering of friends and a motorcycle parade. Chessie will participate in a beauty pageant and then pursue a career in law enforcement.

United States Education Secretary, Arne Duncan says there is no excuse in the 21st century for any school system to be in the financial position Philadelphia’s school system is in. Philadelphia Police are looking for a man who they say shot and robbed a cab driver last week. Police describe 27-year-old Paul Leavy as armed and dangerous and on the loose. Southwest Detectives Lieutenant John Walker says he shot a Freedom Taxi cab driver at about 10 p.m. last Thursday at Farragut and Walnut Streets in West Philadelphia.
