Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz was named to his first All-Star game today. Chooch has had a career year at the plate combined with his stellar defense behind the plate. He will backup San Fransico's Buster Posey who was voted as the starter for the National League.
Two other Phillies also were selected to represent at the 83rd Midsummer classic July 10th. Starting pitcher Cole Hamels and closer Jonathan Papelbon were picked by Cardinals' manager Tony LaRussa.Read More |

Severe thunderstorms overnight Saturday left Atlantic County with widespread damage and a large number of power outages. A State of Emergency has been declared in the county that restricts travel so that crews can assess damage and clear debris. Temperatures in the mid-90's and numerous downed-trees and power lines hampered efforts to restore power as quickly as possible to the 206,000 households that lost it during the storm. The Chester County Jazz Festival crowd got a special treat when Saturday headliner and Sax great, Warren Hill took the stage to join his daughter, 13 year old Olivia Rox for a few songs. Warren Hill who is a renowned saxaphone player, was not at all reluctant to take Olivia's sparkling pink guitar for a song, pictured.

Earlier today authorities issued a warrant after the South Jersey man charged with DUI 5 times over a five week period failed to show up for his court hearing.
Anderson Sotomayor, 45, was out on $20,000 bail as of Monday. He spent about a month in jail after his 5th DWI arrest May 16th because he was also caught with prescription Oxycodone pills.
