Maria Cole, Widow of Nat King Cole, Dies at 89 |

Maria Hawkins Cole, widow of the great Nat King Cole, has passed away after a battle with cancer. A singer for Duke Ellington and Count Basie, she met and married Nat King Cole. Together they had Natalie, Timolin, and Casey Cole. Natalie continued in her parents footsteps and became and R&B performer.
In 1965 when her husband, the great Nat ‘King’ Cole, passed away, she created the Cole Cancer Foundation in his honor.

Slash's good friend Charlie Sheen made an appearance at Slash's Hollywood Walk of Fame celebration. Although not planned, Sheen gave a speech which ended in a demeaning insult of Guns N' Roses partner Axl Rose. Sheen said, "You know, it’s quite fitting, I think, that Slash is getting a star on the very street that Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on." The internal investigation of Penn State's handling of Jerry Sandusky, Joe Paterno and former Penn State President Graham Spanier reveals that everybody knew of Sandusky's actions and they covered up the incidents to avoid negative publicity. The results of Penn State's internal investigation into the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal were set to be released Thursday morning. The investigation, led by former federal judge and FBI director Louis Freeh interviewed hundreds of people to learn what Penn State officials did or didn’t do after allegations against Sandusky began surfacing about 14 years ago. Sandusky was convicted on 45 criminal counts in June.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced today that it would begin accepting applications for a license for a second casino in Philadelphia. The license up for bidding is the same one that was revoked from Foxwoods casino a year and a half ago. A bill that would have opened up statewide competition for that license passed the House but never was taken up in the Senate. The current law still provisions two licenses for Philadelphia. After a two year hiatus, The Killers are finally back! They are releasing a new album called Battle Born and they've recorded 15 new songs. The album will be released September 18, 2012.
Songs confirmed to appear on the album include "Heart Of A Girl", "Flesh And Bone", and "Carry Me Home." The songs that are on the rest of the album will be confirmed sometime next week.

Imagine finding your stolen car listed for sale on e-bay. Imagine finding it listed 42 years after it had been stolen. That's exactly what happened to Temple University alum Bob Russell who had his 1967 Austin-Healey stolen in Philadelphia in 1970 while visiting his then girlfriend Cyndy.
