A crowd of almost 10,000 gathered on Independence Mall today during the two day “America For Jesus†rally, a national prayer gathering. Televangelist Pat Robertson, founder of the 700 Club, addressed the crowd and led them in prayer. The event was organized by One Nation under God, a non-partisan coalition of ministries. Haverford Music Festival took place September 15th at Darby and Eagle Roads in Havertown. Nearly 15,000 people attended the festival which was spread out over 3 stages of music. Indre Recording and iradiophilly broadcast the performances from the Oakmont Stage that day with some additional footage from the other stages. Chase Utley will not be playing third base this year. The Phillies were contemplating using these last few games to experiment with the All-Star second basemen by switching defensive positions to third base, but have decided to put that idea on hold.

Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Teresa Sarmina ruled today that the prosecution held back details from a 1986 jury during the sentencing of condemned man Terrance Williams. Those details were brought to light this week by Williams' defense during a hearing in front of Sarmina. Specifically, the defense claims that Williams' motive for murder was rage over years of sexual abuse at the hands of his victim Amos Norwood. Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge M. Theresa Sarmina issued a stay of execution for condemned killer Terrance Williams today. Williams had been scheduled to die by lethal injection next Wednesday, October 3rd.
Yesterday the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons voted 4-1 to rehear Williams clemency request. Two weeks ago the board voted 3-2 against recommending clemency in his case. After yesterday's vote the board decided to wait until Judge Sarmina's decision to act further. Read More |

The Philadelphia Zoo is planning some big improvements around the gardens, a children's zoo and outside the zoo. A new $24 million parking garage is planned with funding from federal, state and city grants as well as private zoo loans. The garage and improvements are expected to be completed in the Spring of 2013.

A disturbing video posted on Facebook was discovered this morning by a concerned citizen and reported to Chester police. The video (seen below, warning contains graphic images and language) shows a group of teenage girls beating and taunting an older mentally challenged woman. The girls, who appear 15 or 16, first confronted the 48 year old woman outside her house.
