Pennsylvania officials announced on Wednesday, 3/31, that all Pennsylvanians 16+ will be eligible for the coronavirus COVID-19 vaccine by April 19. This is part of a three-week accelerated vaccine rollout. Today, all law enforcement, firefighters, grocery store, and food workers are eligible. On April 5, all of Phase 1B is eligible and on April 12 all of Phase 1C is open. On those dates you'll be allowed to put your name on the list and sign up for appointments at vaccine providers... A man who was working on a film about gun violence was shot and killed on Monday night, 3/29, in North Philadelphia. It happened around 8 p.m. on the 1900 block of West Page Street in Strawberry Mansion. "This 55-year-old male was working for a production company. They were inside of a private residence. Firefly Music Festival announced on Monday, 3/29, that it will be returning in Fall 2021. It posted the dates September 23-26, 2021 on it's website. No other information about the festival is available at this time including ticket on sale time, potential lineups, or pandemic restrictions. All of that will be available at a later date. Philadelphia Police are investigating after seven people were shot and injured outside of a social club on Friday night, 3/26. It happened around 8 p.m. at the Golf and Social Club on the 1000 block of Delaware Avenue in Fishtown. It started as an altercation inside the club that spilled outside. A mother of six children from Lancaster County, PA, was shot and killed during a road rage incident on I-95 in North Carolina on Thursday morning, 3/25. SEPTA will be hiring 60 unarmed security guards to help secure parts of the Market-Frankford Line. There has been a rise in attacks in stations along that line. Posting guards will hopefully quell some of that activity and provide a safer environment for SEPTA workers and customers. Guards will be in place in late March or early April. There will also be a new vulnerable population action team to address homelessness, addiction, and mental illness.
