City officials say the Philadelphia police officer caught on video using his baton to help make an arrest at a South Street block party last month has been sued in federal court 13 times. A review of the cases shows they involved charges of unreasonable force and unlawful arrest, among others. Commissioner Charles Ramsey says Internal Affairs is investigating to see if Officer William Gress used excessive force, but he says any past cases won’t figure in to the investigation.

A federal officer is recovering at Hahnemann University Hospital after being punched in the face in Center City Monday night. Police say two suspects mugged the officer of his laptop at 15th and JFK. The suspects punched the officer before fleeing the area. At least one suspect is in custody.

A child was rushed to DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington after being struck by a car on Thursday.
The two year old child left his home in attempt to follow his father to the store.
The boy was struck by a westbound 1997 Buick Century operated by a 52-year-old Wilmington man who did remain at the scene and cooperate with police.
There is no word on the child’s condition.

Pennsylvania's public employee retirement system says Jerry Sandusky will get to keep more than $900,000 in state pension payments he received after his 1999 retirement from Penn State.
The state's forfeiture law does not authorize SERS to go after money paid before the date of a plea or conviction.
The agency notified Sandusky he will no longer receive his $59,000 annual pension following his conviction and sentence in the child sexual abuse scandal.

An Old City community center conducted a clothing swap for neighborhood residents on Wednesday. The Christ Church Neighborhood House on American Street conducted the event, hoping to give the community an opportunity to find items for the fall and winter. There was one and a half tables of clothing, a half-filled rack of coats and shirts, and a half table covered with shoes and other accessories available for the taking.

Nearly four months after his child sex abuse conviction in a case that rocked Penn State, former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to no less than 30 years and no more than 60 years in prison Tuesday. He was given credit for 112 days of time served and must pay the cost of prosecution and $1,706 in restitution. | More than three months after his child sex abuse conviction in a case that set Penn State University on its ear, Jerry Sandusky is to be sentenced today in Centre County Court. Before Sandusky is sentenced, there will be a hearing on whether, under Pennsylvania's "Megan's Law," Sandusky should be designated a sexually violent predator. Philadelphia police say one woman is dead and her son is in critical condition after a double shooting Sunday night in Northern Liberties. Police are investigating the incident that happened inside a private home on the 700 block of North 3rd Street. The woman in her 60's was reportedly shot in the chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The 40-year-old male victim was shot in the face and is being treated at Hahnemann University Hospital.

| An American Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami was delayed almost two hours due to a mechanical issue with the pilot’s seat, airline officials said Thursday.
