The salary of a chef at a Camden Charter School has gotten attention because it is 25% higher than last year. Executive Chef Michele Pastorello of the LEAP Academy Charter is budgeted to earn $95,000 this year, $24,000 more than last year. Philly.com is reporting Pastorello is the live-in boyfriend of a school board member. The pay, well above market rate for a school chef, is being investigated.

A fire in Philadelphia revealed a marijuana growing operation at an abandoned home. After a Sunday fire in the 2600 block of North 27th Street, police searched an abandoned home next door and found materials used in growing pot. The house had been empty for about 6 months. No drugs were found at the scene.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia cut the ribbon today on a play area it is sponsoring at the King of Prussia Mall. There is a replica of the hospital, an ambulance, a rescue helicopter, tunnels, slides and climbing walls. The 1200 square foot play area features colorful elements that encourage creative play and exercise while at the mall.

Meteor Explodes Into Russia, Carnival Cruise from Hell Ends, Asteroid Passes Earth Today

There was panic as a meteor plunged to earth in Russia this morning injuring over 400 people. The impacted area is about 900 miles east of Moscow in Chelyabinsk. As the meteor entered the atmosphere and streaked across the sky, it exploded shattering windows in buildings. At least three were hospitalized. Most injuries reported were related to breaking glass.

New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg announced today he will not seek re-election next year. Lautenberg says this marks the beginning of a two year mission to pass new gun safety laws, protect children from toxic chemicals and create opportunities for New Jersey’s working families. Lautenberg is the oldest serving senator.

Amputee Sprinter Pistorius Charged with Murder, US Airways American Merger, Ads on City Property

Olympic sprinter and double amputee Oscar Pistorius (pictured), known as the blade runner, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend in South Africa. Pistorius will face a judge today and is the only suspect in the shooting of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp in Pistorius' home.

Rain will gradually change over to snow tonight across the Delaware Valley. As the night progresses the temperature will drop and the precipitation will be all snow by midnight. Snowfall will continue until around 3 am leaving 1 to 3 inches by morning. The roads could be slick in the morning but tomorrow’s temperature will get to 48 on Valentine’s Day, so conditions will improve as the day progresses.

A rainy day is expected to turn into a snowy night across the Delaware Valley. Showers this evening are expected to mix with sleet and wet snow by about 10 tonight. The wife of a former Penn basketball player has been charged with murder, stabbing her husband because he watched porn. While 53 year old Matthew White was asleep his wife, Maria Rey Garcia-Pellon (pictured) allegedly stabbed him in the neck in bed at their home in Nether Providence. White bled to death. Garcia-Pellon then went to a friend's house and told her she caught her husband looking at porn on the computer and she killed him.

The New Castle County Courthouse remains closed today following yesterday's shooting that left 3 people dead and two officers wounded. The gunman, described as a white male with gray hair was also killed. The shootings are believed to be related to a bitter child custody battle between Christine Belford and David Matusiewicz. 6 ABC is identifying the shooter as David's father, Thomas Matusiewicz.
