A 10 week old bulldog puppy was given up by its breeder because it was born with a severe cleft palate. The puppy, named Lentil (pictured) was adopted by Lindsay Condefer, the owner of Street Tails Animal Rescue in Philadelphia. Lentil has to eat through a feeding tube until old enough for a series of delicate surgeries. In the meantime, Lentil's Facebook page has over 50,000 Likes.

A dozen free doughnuts every week for a year. That's the reward Krispy Kreme will give to Dr. Timothy Folkomer for being the first in line for today’s grand opening of its newest store in Havertown’s Manoa Shopping Center. Folkomer is a retired geologist and teacher who has camped out at new Krispy Kreme stores before. He donates most of his weekly free confections to a homeless shelter and other charities.

Funeral arrangements for veteran Philadelphia fireman Captain Michael Goodwin have been announced. Goodwin died battling a blaze in a Queen Village fabric store. Tuesday at noon there will be a memorial service at City Hall honoring Goodwin and two firefighters who died last year in a warehouse collapse. Viewings will be held Wednesday evening from 5 to 9 and Thursday morning from 9 to 10:45 at the Givnish Funeral Home on Academy Road.

The Coast Guard suspended the search last night for a fisherman lost in the ocean after his boat capsized. The commercial fishing boat was dredging for crabs when something happened causing the boat to sink. Three fishermen went into the water and after a distress call, nearby fishermen rescued two of the crew members from the water.
UPDATE: No trace of Cattlet has been found and the Coast Guard has suspended their search.

In Upper Darby a student was honored for saving a police officer's life. Amanda Beale, a 23 year old grad student at Thomas Jefferson University helped to save 43 year old Radnor cop Anthony Radico who went into cardiac arrest while working out at Planet Fitness in Clifton Heights. Beale called 911 and administered CPR until emergency crews arrived. Beale received a commendation from Upper Darby Township Council.

Philadelphia's new top FBI agent is a coal miner's son from Wilkes Barre. When Ed Hanko was 12, his father took him deep into the dark mines below the earth and when they resurfaced, his father said, "Stay in school. Get a better job than me." Ed Hanko will oversee the eighth largest FBI division with 500 employees and agents covering half of PA and part of South Jersey.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a murder - suicide in the Museum Towers on 18th Street near Spring Garden. Apparently, the violence was a result of a domestic issue involving a 29 year old woman and a man. The incident happened shortly after 8 last night.
