Gentlemen's clubs in Philadelphia are ready to challenge the legality of Mayor Michael Nutter's proposed lap dance tax. Cheerleaders and Club Risque recently got hit with tax bills for over $400k in back taxes. The clubs contend that the amusement tax is paid by customers when they enter in the cover charge.

Gunman Fires on Lansdowne Children, Mother Charged with Murder of Child, Demo Committee Frustrated

Delaware County Police are looking for a gunman who opened fire on a group of children last night. Three were wounded including an 11 year old girl and 10 year old boy. The incident happened last night at about 11:30 on Beverly Avenue in East Lansdowne. Witnesses say a man was hiding in nearby bushes and fired 8 or 9 shots at the group of kids crossing the street. No suspect or motive is known at this time.

Traffic was shut down in both directions on the Atlantic City Expressway yesterday evening after a minivan overturned ejecting its passengers on the roadway. The accident happened in the westbound lane in Winslow Township. Ten passengers in the van were treated at Cooper University Hospital, six of them children. The cause of the crash is being investigated.

A young Philadelphia mother and three of her sons were killed crossing the Roosevelt Boulevard at 2nd Street late last night when a car ran into the family. The 27 year old mother was pushing a stroller with her four children when they were struck by a 22 year old driving an Audi. The driver stopped and agreed to a blood test. The mother, 1 year old, 9 month old and 4 year old are dead. The 5 year old son is hospitalized and stable.

Parents are being warned about a website where users chat anonymously with strangers. Parents of a Radnor 12 year old contacted police after their child was coaxed to send nude pictures online. The site is Omegle and randomly pairs users in one-on-one chat rooms. Police are trying to get the word out to parents that sites like Omegle are frequented by predators and may not be safe for young users.

The attorney for George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder trial was a Philadelphia DJ in the 70's for radio station WMMR. That's what iRadioPhilly DJ Michael Tearson told the Daily News. Tearson also worked at WMMR at the time and said West was there for "a long sip of water" between 1977 and 1978. West got a Master's degree from Penn and worked at several radio stations.

Upper Merion Police have a 47 year old man in custody accused of sexually assaulting a 16 year old girl he met at an Alcoholics anonymous meeting. Paul Corrigan, who police believe was a school teacher 5 years ago, was found with the girl at a local hotel after both his wife and the girl’s mother reported them missing.

Darren Daulton underwent brain surgery a couple of weeks ago to remove two tumors. According to a release from the Darren Daulton Foundation, the former Phillies catcher has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. It is unclear whether all cancerous cells have been removed from Daulton, but GBC is usually highly malignant.

A double shooting last night near an elementary school playground in Olney left one man dead and another in critical condition. The shooting happened last night at about 11:30 on the 5800 block of North Fifth Street. According to police, a 21 year old victim died at the hospital and the second victim, in his teens was shot multiple times. Police are checking surveillance video for clues to the gunman.

A public hearing is on for today with state officials and city labor leaders on hand to discuss the deadly building collapse last month in Center City. Six people died and 13 were hurt when a wall collapsed on the Salvation Army store at 22nd and Market Streets. Today’s hearing will is at the Independence Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing.
