The US Environmental Protection Agency has released its Top 50 consumers of green power and Philadelphia is prominently on the list. The University of Pennsylvania claimed the number 1 spot among colleges across the country for consuming over 200 million kilowatt hours of green power, which is half of Penn's total power needs. It is snowing in other parts of the country and local meteorologists have already started mentioning the four letter S word in Philadelphia forecasts. A half foot fell west of us in Colorado and two other systems are pushing winter weather from the north and are threatening New England and northeast PA. Today, President Barack Obama declared an end to the Iraq war and announced that all American troops would be withdrawn from the country by the end of the year. Obama declared the move a promise kept, a new day for a self-reliant Iraq and a focus on building up the economy at home.
"I can report that, as promised, the rest of our troops in Iraq will come home by the end of the year," Obama said. "After nearly nine years, America's war in Iraq will be over."

The Royal was sold to Philadelphia music legend and real estate investor, Kenny Gamble 11 years ago with his promise to revitalize the building. The Mummers are an institution in Philadelphia. And prostitution may be the oldest profession. Now the two are tangled after a raid in South Philly Tuesday night.
