Last night's lightning, winds and heavy rain darkened the city and many suburbs just after 7 pm. Most of the 10,000 outages reported by PECO were in Philadelphia and Bucks County. In New Jersey 3,000 lost power according to PSE&G with most of the problems in Camden County. In Voorhees, strong winds brought down huge trees onto houses, cars and power lines. A couple of stormy days ahead starting this afternoon through Tuesday night. Heavy rains in strong to severe thunderstorms can be expected across the area with winds possibly reaching 50 miles per hour today, tonight and tomorrow. The good news is that after Tuesday afternoon, things clear up very nicely with cooler, dry air moving in for the rest of the week.

According to a report by TMZ, the boyfriend of "Glee" star Becca Tobin (pictured) has been found dead in a Philadelphia hotel. He is identified as 35 year old Matt Bendik said to have been found yesterday afternoon but details were not known. Bendik owned nightclubs around the country. Glee’s Becca Tobin who plays cheerleader Kitty in the show, is also in Philadelphia but it is not known where she was at the time of death.

A beautiful stone mansion in Wayne, PA was severely damaged by fire yesterday. The owner of the home on the 200 block of Wyndom Lane is a stone mason who built the home with his own hands and has helped to build many homes on the Main Line. The fire started in the garage where the homeowner was working on his car then spread to the rest of the home. The homeowner suffered minor injuries.

Strong storms rolled through last night with high winds and brief heavy rain bringing down tree limbs and knocking out the power. Many roads are still closed for tree and power line cleanup. And as of this morning, over 130,000 customers were still without electricity in PA, NJ and DE.

The city has announced it will review the Welcome America 4th of July concert on the Parkway focusing on the foul language used by several of the performers. The language made it uncomfortable for parents who brought children expecting a family friendly show. The televised concert featured Nicki Ninaj (pictured), The Roots, Ed Sheeran and others. Mayor Nutter says he will work to make the concert more family friendly next year.

Smoke detectors had been installed last year in the Southwest Philadelphia row home on Gesner Street that burned last week killing four young children. The fast moving blaze damaged at least 10 residences. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause. One witness claimed he saw a couch on a porch on fire and saw the flames spread to other homes. Donations of clothing and supplies for the displaced families are being accepted at Christ International Baptist Church.

Arthur has strengthened into a hurricane. The first hurricane of the 2014 season is making its way up the east coast with winds over 75 miles per hour. The eye of the storm is expected to pass Kitty Hawk North Carolina tomorrow morning and pass Jersey beaches offshore about 8 pm Friday. As a Category 1 hurricane, Arthur will bring heavy rain, high winds and dangerous rip currents.

The first named Atlantic storm of the summer, Arthur is strengthening off the coast of Florida and creeping our way. The tropical storm has wind speeds of 60 mph and is expected to strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane overnight Thursday as it passes the Carolinas. Arthur is predicted to stay east of the Jersey shore bringing strong winds and heavy surf on Friday, the 4th of July.

A woman in Langhorne is recovering from burns she sustained when her laptop exploded. Loretta Luff (pictured) of Langhorne Manor was checking email while she and her disabled husband were watching the Phillies game. She says her Dell Inspirion 1501 battery pack blew up sending battery acid and burning parts onto her shirt and all around her. She was treated for first and second degree burns after putting out the fires around her.
