48 SEPTA workers are overnight millionaires. They hit the Powerball jackpot yesterday. They work in various departments at SEPTA headquarters and prefer to remain anonymous for now. Each will receive about $2 million from the payout.

The Mayfair Tire slasher has been arrested. David Toledo, the man who claimed to be on the Town Watch force, and who himself had his tires slashed, apparently did it all himself. Police say Toledo has a history of being a trouble maker and now is accused of slashing tires on 55 cars.

The Teachers Union is not responding positively to the Philadelphia School District's plan to close 64 public schools over the next 5 years. According the District Chief Recovery Officer, Tom Knudsen, the closures will quickly save the city $33 million and a billion dollars in the long run.

Dick Clark passed away yesterday of a massive heart attack. Early in his career, Dick Clark was a disc jockey on Philadelphia radio station WFIL and skyrocketed to stardom when he became the full time host of the Philadelphia based TV show Bandstand in 1952.
