A 24 year old Point Breeze woman was shot twice at point blank range overnight. The woman was asleep in her bedroom when she awoke to see a man wearing a dark mask standing over her bed. He fired two shots at her and fled the scene. She was able to call for help and is in stable condition. Nothing was taken from the home. Police are searching for a motive.

Mangled Animal Remains in North Philadelphia, Fishtown Elementary Suspensions, Harrah's Sued

Officials are investigating the discovery of the mangled remains of a large animal on a vacant lot in North Philadelphia. The animal’s skin, paws and ears had all been removed, making it difficult to identify the species, however it is believed to be some sort of large feline – such as an ocelot or a bobcat. The animal had been shot and the surgical instruments used to mutilate the cat were found at the scene.

Pope Francis will come to Philadelphia in September of 2015. In preparation for the visit, Archbishop Charles Chaput, Mayor Michael Nutter and Governor Tom Corbett will visit with Pope Francis later this month. The event in Philadelphia is the Vatican's World Meeting of Families. Nutter and Corbett are honorary co-chairs of the event.

Traffic Stop Crash Injures Officer, School Sued Over Beard Length, Tracheotomy Man Attacked

A routine traffic stop landed a Philadelphia police officer in the hospital this morning in North Philly at 11th and Cumberland when a mini-van being pursued by other patrol cars slammed into the stopped police cruiser with an officer inside. The driver of the mini-van, suspected of DUI, was running from police at 60 miles per hour, driving on the sidewalk and hitting parked cars. The injured officer was treated at Temple University Hospital and will be okay.

An overturned tractor trailer closed southbound lanes of I-95 this morning creating a traffic nightmare for anyone trying to get into the city during rush hour. The accident happened at about 5 am just past Woodhaven Road. The rig, blocking the road and fuel spill cleanup has shut both lanes between Woodhaven and Academy. No injuries were reported.

A Swarthmore College graduate has been piling up his winnings on TV's Jeopardy. Arthur Chu, now 30 years old, has reached third on the show's list of money winners excluding special tournaments. As of Friday's show, Chu has accumulated $261,000 in winnings. Chu says he maintains an edge by jumping around categories while he controls the board.

A Winter Storm Warning is now over for the immediate Philadelphia area this afternoon. The good news for Philly is that the brunt of this storm took a track further south. Parts of New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland could see a foot from this storm. Points north, the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos are getting little to nothing from this system.

Philadelphia has endured record cold this winter and we are in it again. Single digit lows and highs only reaching the 20's are 20 degrees below normal for this time of year. The wind is pushing chill factors below zero so dress accordingly these next few days. Bundle up and cover all exposed skin. Trenton Temporary Mayor, Corbett Hernia, Penn Professor Dies After Fall on SEPTA Stairs

Trenton's mayor has been removed from office and replaced after a corruption conviction. Mayor Tony Mack was convicted February 7th and a new acting Mayor has been named. He is George Muschal (muh-SHELL), a former city council president. Muschal was sworn in yesterday in a private ceremony and the 66 year old retired police officer says he has no intention of seeking a full term at election time in May.
