Shoppers flocked to the malls yesterday. Some to get out of the wet weather, some to exchange unwanted holiday gifts. Many were there to shop - using gift cards they received for Christmas or Hanukkah. The week between Christmas and New Years has become a good week for retailers since the popularization of gift cards. Shoppers are finding better sales now than pre-Christmas.

Vineland Church Shooting, Philadelphia Weather Slows Travel, Train Derails in Delaware

A shooting at Saint Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church Hall in Vineland, New Jersey landed three people in the hospital. Police responded to calls of shots fired at a Christmas party about 1:15 this morning. Police are calling the incident an attempted homicide and are asking for help from tipsters. There is a $1,000 reward. If you can help, call Vineland police at 856-691-0345.

An ex-convict killed two firefighters in upstate New York, then himself and possibly his sister after he set his neighborhood on fire Christmas Eve. And he left a note. 62 year old William Spengler set his own house and neighbors on fire. Then, when first responders arrived, Spengler opened fire killing two firemen, then himself. There is a big wet weather system headed our way. A large storm down South dumping snow and rain will hit the Philadelphia area as the day progresses. It's Christmas Eve and it appears Santa may need the light of Rudolph's nose to help find his way through some snowy weather in the Philadelphia region tonight. A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos with snow and freezing rain in the forecast there tonight. In Philadelphia the weather will be mostly wet this evening and possibly some snow mixed in North and West as Santa Claus comes to town.

Over the holidays, high schools in Philadelphia will get a new addition. Condom machines. Twenty two city schools with the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases will dispense free condoms to students. All students will have access to the free condoms unless parents sign a form opting out of the program.

PA Troopers Hurt in Hollidaysburg Shooting, Bucks Man's Powerball Prize, NRA Wants Guards in Schools

Three Pennsylvania State Troopers were injured and four people are dead after a chase that extended over several miles in Hollidaysburg, about 70 miles west of Harrisburg. A gunman apparently killed three people and injured three troopers in pursuit. The gunman was also killed during the incident. One trooper escaped serious injury when a bullet was stopped by his bullet-proof vest.

Council Rock High School South in Northampton Township Bucks County is closed today due to a threat by a student. The school district confirmed it received information Thursday about the threat. A student has been arrested and the school will be closed today to allow police to conduct a sweep of the building.

Philadelphia Police have released a photo of the man believed to have robbed a priest (see below). Yesterday afternoon an Episcopalian priest was attacked and sprayed with some type of chemical while waiting for a bus around 11th and Walnut. The thief stole a money clip from the priest, which had $125 in it. The priest was taken to Jefferson Hospital. Anyone with info, please call police at 215-686-TIPS (8744).
