Mount Saint Joseph Senior Carly Monzo takes Olympian Shaun White to Prom

About a month ago, Carly Monzo, a senior at all-girls Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Flourtown, created a video asking Shaun White to her senior prom. Carly used her Hero 2 GoPro camera to film the entire video and included music from White's band Bad Things. GoPro happens to be a sponsor of the two-time Olympic gold medalist and action sports star. The video titled "GoProM?" has 8900 views in the past month. UPDATE: The video has jumped to 153,000 after the weekend!

A 12-year-old boy and a 21-year-old have both been hospitalized after gunfire broke out in Lawncrest this evening. It happened after 9:00 pm on the 500 block of Van Kirk Street near Rising Sun Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia. The man and the boy were walking together when they were caught in the crossfire. Philly Hip Hop star Meek Mill (aka Robert Williams) has lost his civil suit against the Philadelphia Police and two city officers today. The 26-year-old rapper from North Philadelphia filed suit over an incident on Halloween 2012. Williams was pulled over, searched, and detained by police for several hours. A suburban Philadelphia school board has approved a new policy that prohibits it's school paper from banning the word ''Redskins'' in reference to the school's sports teams and mascot. Last October the Neshaminy High School newspaper staff voted to ban use of the word in the publication, saying it was a racial slur. Today, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced sanctions against Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA and fined $2.5 million for racial comments he made in a recorded private conversation between himself and his mistress V. Stiviano. Lower Moreland police have released surveillance photos of men they suspect robbed a man twice in the say day last week. The victim was robbed by two men while sitting in his car in Southwest Philadelphia in the afternoon on April 17th. They took his phone, cash, and wallet. Four hours later four men showed up to a Huntingdon Valley apartment complex presumably following the address found in the victim's wallet. The initial lineup for the 53rd Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival was announced on Friday afternoon. The festival will be held August 15-17, 2014.
