The Hindenburg luxury airliner was the pride of Adolf Hitler's Germany. The trans-atlantic dirigible was a part of a fleet of airships that the Nazi nation flew around the world built by the Zeppelin company. On May 6, 1937 the Hindenburg was coming into a routine docking with its air mast at the airfield in Lakehurst, NJ, Ocean County when it suddenly caught fire and was destroyed in seconds as it crashed to the ground.

This weekend's night skies will be especially bright with the biggest full moon of the year peaking on Saturday night at 11:35 PM. It's called the "super moon". A super moon is when a full moon coincides with the moon's "perigee" or its closest approach to Earth. The moon's orbit is not a perfect circle around the Earth, so sometimes of the month it is closer than others.

Yesterday, legendary Beastie Boy co-founder and music pioneer Adam Yauch aka MCA lost his nearly three year battle with cancer. He was 47. He was first diagnosed in July 2009.
Coldplay, like the rest of the music world in mourning, set aside time during their show at the Hollywood Bowl last night to pay tribute to Yauch. Archbishop Chaput Decides Fate of 8 Priests |

Today, Archbishop Chaput announced the fate of 8 of 27 suspended priests. Three were determined that they can return to ministry while five cannot.
Six cases are still being reviewed by law enforcement officals, he said. Announcements on the remaining dozen will be announced in the coming weeks. One of the priests passed away before the review was completed.

Beastie Boy, Adam Yauch aka MCA has died at age 47 |

Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch has died at the age of 47 after a two-year battle with cancer. Known as "MCA", Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left salivary gland and a lymph node in July 2009. He had undergone surgery and radiation therapy.
Recently he was was too sick to appear alongside his fellow bandmates during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month.

David Toledo, the Mayfair tire slasher, was back in court today to set a date for trial and to discuss his bail. His side pleaded with the judge to lower his bail from $260,000 saying that it was too high to afford, and citing his ties to the community and lack of prior record. Appearing on his behalf was his attorney, wife, and mother. A Haverford High teacher, Keith Barnes, 50 is charged with endangering the welfare of children and disorderly conduct and is suspended from his job after bringing his sons age 4 and 3 to Tom and Jerry's Sports Bar on McDade Blvd, and locking the younger one in his car alone when he became unruly. Police responded to a call of a child alone in a car, Barnes came out of the bar with his other son and didn't see the big deal. They were there watching the band Blackthorn play.

Attorneys for the two Hungarian students who were killed in the collision accident in July 2010 between a tugboat pushed barge and a stranded tourist Duck Boat, have released a new video of the event that they say contains disturbing details of what actually happened.

'May Day' brought out a hundred or so Occupy protestors in Center City today. Starting out at the Wells Fargo at 17th and Chestnut around noon then moving through the streets they blocked traffic for a while at 18th and Walnut. They were under the watchful eye of Philadelphia Police the entire time, who had wagons lined up in case they needed to make mass arrests. Those proved to be unnecessary here in Philly. Sunoco Inc. is being acquired for $5.3 billion by a Texas pipeline company, Energy Transfer Partners of Dallas. Sunoco will maintain it's headquarters in Philadelphia after the merger, but will still be exiting the refinery business in this area as planned.
