Philadelphia Police have identified a suspect in an assault of a blind man last week that was caught on tape. Police are looking for 29-year-old Mustafa Guyton. The incident occurred on October 2nd at 12:06 pm. The camera shows the suspect standing on the northeast corner of Wayne Avenue and Seymour Street in Southwest Germantown. A Lancaster County man was convicted today for beating his wife for not addressing him as "sir" in front of their children. Prosecutors said that 49-year-old Dan Kirby Kopp of Ephrata would beat his wife with a wooden paddle when he thought she wasn't being respectful. He'd take her over his knee and spank her. The Philadelphia Phillies announced today the return of Larry Bowa and Pete Mackanin to the coaching staff. This will be Bowa's fourth different stint with the Phillies franchise over his career. Bowa, a Hall of Fame player, played shortstop for the Phils from 1970-1981, was third base coach from 1988-1996, and was club manager from 2001-2004. The Philadelphia Flyers fired coach Peter Laviolette today after an 0-3 start. Assistant Craig Berube, in his seventh season with the organization, will take over as the 18th coach in Flyers history. Laviolette was hired early into the 2009 season and led the Flyers to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. They made the playoffs the next two seasons but failed last season. The bodies of a woman and a boy were discovered Saturday morning in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia after a fire. Firefighters responded to an apartment building on the 4600 block of Howell Street just before 9 a.m. Inside the apartment they found a bloody mattress in the living room. Local competitive eating champion, 'El Wingador,' has been sentenced to 7 years in prison on cocaine charges. William Simmons, 51, of Woodbury Heights, NJ, pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine back in July. He was arrested in June 2012 in an undercover sting with around $8,000 worth of the drug and $4,000 in cash. Simmons has been apologetic since his arrest. The United States Capitol was placed on lockdown this afternoon after a woman rammed her car into a White House gate, then was chased by Secret Service and exchanged gunfire with police. The woman was shot and killed and one Capitol Police officer was injured. It all started at around 2 pm when she attempted to drive her car through the White House gate near 15th St. and E. A private security guard hired to monitor Penn Wood High School’s Green Avenue campus has been arrested for stealing $15,000 in musical instruments from the school. 54-year-old Cory Thompson of Philadelphia turned himself in yesterday and was arraigned in Upper Darby court today. Authorities say there is no problem at a Pennsylvania nuclear power plant after the sirens went off briefly. The sirens sounded at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station on the Susquehanna River Tuesday morning in York County. The office of Emergency management said that there was no emergency and there is no reason to be alarmed.
