The defense rested on Friday without calling any witnesses in the obstruction and perjury case against Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane. Montgomery County judge Wendy Demchick Alloy asked Kane if she was going to take the stand. Kane said, “I don’t believe it’s necessary for me to testify on my own behalf.” The jury was sent home for the weekend. They'll hear closing arguments on Monday morning before being sent off to deliberations.

A child fell off a wooden roller coaster at an amusement park in Westmoreland County in western Pennsylvania on Thursday afternoon. It happened around 12:20 p.m. at the Idlewild Park and Soak Zone in Ligonier, PA, about and hour southeast of Pittsburg. The boy was on the coaster with his brother when he fell. Philadelphia Sheriff's Department officials say that the sergeant injured in an elevator failure last week at the courthouse is paralyzed from the waist down. 48-year-old Sergeant Paul Owens remains in critical condition and is in an induced coma. An accident involving two elevators injured two people at the Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center this morning.
