Philly Bike Share Program (may be) Coming in 2014 |

Philadelphia can soon hope to see a Bike Share program like the successful programs in Washington, DC, Boston, and Minneapolis. The Nutter Administration plans to ask the Philadelphia City Council for $3 million to get a program with 650 bikes on the streets by early 2014. An additional 550 bikes would be added in 2015.
Riders will be able to buy daily, weekly, or monthly memberships from vending machines and take any available bike out from a bike station. Based on rates from... Read More |

A man from Glenside in Montgomery County is now under arrest for impersonating a Philadelphia Police officer on Wednesday night. 30-year-old Michael Green is accused of stopping another car along the 4300 block of McMenamy Street in the Holmesburg section with another section. Both men were armed and pulled the guns on the driver and two passengers, forcing them into the back seat. They were able to escape, but one of them suffered a broken arm. Paulsboro, NJ residents have been told they can start to return home today, Friday, a week since they were evacuated following last Friday's early morning freight train derailment and vinyl chloride leak over the Mantua Creek. The decision was made after air monitors showed the air clear of Vinyl chloride on Thursday and Friday. The last of the chemical was pumped from the ruptured rail car on Wednesday evening. Jeb Bush has been named the new Chairman of the National Constitution Center. The former Governor of Florida is following in the footsteps of his father George H.W. Bush (although not to the White House) who was the Chairman from 2007-2008. Bill Clinton held the position the last four years. John Ellis “Jeb” Bush will take over on January 13th. The Philadelphia Phillies have traded right-hand pitcher Vance Worley and top pitching prospect Trevor May to the Minnesota Twins for Outfielder Ben Revere.
Fan favorite Worley, 25, has been up at the major league level for 2 seasons+ now with a career ERA of 3.50. The 2013 Grammy Nominees were announced Wednesday night at the 5th annual primetime television special for the first time from the Bridgestone Area in Nashville, TN aka Music City. The night was hosted by Taylor Swift and LL Cool J. The nominations are determined by submissions from around the music industry from members of The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). Police have found the missing 13-year-old Radnor, PA girl safe and sound in Washington, DC and have arrested the man she was with. Federal marshals followed several anonymous tips and found Savanna Marie MacMullet and 20-year-old Ashley Ryan Hareford at a bus station around 7 pm. They took a discount bus from Philadelphia to DC and investigators were waiting for them. Hareford is facing charges of corruption of a minor. A public meeting scheduled this evening regarding the Paulsboro train derailment has been postponed by officials. The public forum held at Paulsboro High School was going to involve representatives of several different agencies. The meeting was pushed back because residents who decided to stay in the evacuation zone are still being ordered to stay inside their homes due to high levels of vinyl chloride in the air as a result of the train derailment.
