Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson issued a decision today that denied a bid by various civil rights groups looking to block the new Pennsylvania Voter ID law from taking effect. Simpson said that the plainiffs, which included the ACLU and others, failed to prove that “disenfranchisement was immediate or inevitable” or that not issuing an injuction would cause “greater injury.” In fact he said stopping the process now would get in the way of preparations underway for the November... A recent study on Adult Obesity shows that Pennsylvanians are a bit larger around the waist than a few of our neighbors. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is set to auction off its large beachfront property in Ventnor, NJ to help payoff some of a $17 million deficit. Two weeks ago we were treated to Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire Director Danny Boyle's universally acclaimed Opening Ceremonies for the London 2012 Olympic Games. 2008 Beijing's scale and pageantry would have been impossible to top, and quite simply the UK is not China. The British might have a stereotype of being stuffy and carrying a stiff upper lip, they certainly aren't a regimented culture where everyone has a singular personality. Even the Queen, of all people, had a little fun and... Read More |
