The suspect wanted in the New York and New Jersey bombings over the weekend is now in custody. A Linden, NJ, Police officer responded to a call of a hooded vagrant sleeping in the entrance to a bar on Monday. When the officer roused the man he recognized him as 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami from the FBI bulletin released earlier. Rahami drew a gun and shot the officer before running. A dead humpback whale washed up on shore in Sea Isle City, New Jersey, on Friday afternoon. It happened near 20th Street. Officials from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine said the 33-foot, approximately 20-ton male juvenile was likely dead 4-5 days and looked emaciated. There were no apparent injuries or immediate cause of death determined. Samples were taken for a necropsy. New Jersey State Police have made a sixth arrest in last month's 'rolling shootout' on the Atlantic City Expressway. 25-year-old Wilbert Demosthene of Pleasantville, NJ, has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess a firearm. Police in New Jersey are investigating after heroin was discovered in a kindergarten student's lunchbox in a school in Trenton on Monday. Police were called to the International Academy of Trenton Charter School on Monday. The kindergarten teacher said that she noticed the 5-year-old student playing with what looked like a candy wrapper. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court was inside Philadelphia City Hall on Tuesday morning listening to arguments on the fair education funding lawsuit. Lawyers for the William Penn School District and 6 others as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Education presented arguments. A 2-year-old boy was shot and killed this morning inside his home in Bucks County. The incident happened around 11 a.m. on the 2100 block of Kumry Road in Milford Township. The Bucks County District Attorney's Office identified the toddler as Benjamin Austin Smith. He was taken to St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. A woman is in custody after a violent police chase and crash in Port Richmond on Thursday evening. It started around 9:15 p.m. near E and Clearfield streets in Kensington. All Philadelphia public schools as well as Archdiocesan High schools and grade schools in Philadelphia have annouced early dismissals for Friday due to the excessive heat. Schools will close at Noon. Temperatures are expected to reach 94 degrees which would tie the record set in 1884, but the heat index will make it feel more like 100. After school activities will also be cancelled. Suburban schools in the Archdiocese will make their own individual decisions.
