A four-alarm fire broke out at the Aquahab Physical Therapy Center adjacent to the AFC Fitness Center in Northeast Philadelphia this morning. It started at 11 a.m. on the 3600 block of Grant Avenue at Fordham Road. Work was being done on the roof at the time. Workers were using a blow torch for welding and caused the fire. An arrest was made in some of the recent threats to Jewish centers nationwide. 31-year-old Juan Thompson was arrested in St. Louis and will appear in federal court on Friday afternoon. He is charged with cyberstalking. He is behind at least 8 of the threats to Jewish Community Centers, plus a bomb threat to the New York Anti-Defamation League. Mayor Jim Kenney presented his second budget to Philadelphia City Council on Thursday. The $4.4 billion budget for the fiscal year starting July 1st contains some new spending but no new taxes. The Philadelphia 76ers announced today that rookie center Joel Embiid will be out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. The Sixers said on Monday that he would be out indefinitely, but then decided to sideline him for the rest of the year after an MRI showed his torn meniscus is worse than they expected. Pepsi is cutting 80-100 Philadelphia area jobs in response to the city's recent beverage tax over the next few months beginning today. Employees from the frontline to supervisory positions will be affected.
