Tenants from a Montgomery County apartment building were forced to leave their residences after the building was deemed unsafe. Residents of the Regina Rose Apartments on Stahr Road in Elkins Park found themselves suddenly out of a home. They were allowed inside briefly to gather some belongings. American track star Sha'Carri Richardson will not be able to compete in the 100 m at the Olympics in Tokyo next month after she failed a recent drug test. Richardson was the first place finisher in the women's 100m at the United States Olympic trials two weeks ago with a time of 10.86 seconds. Pennsylvania Governor Wolf vetoed a bill on Thursday, 7/1, that would have banned so-called COVID-19 "vaccine passports." The bill also sought to restrict the heath secretary's actions during a health emergency. Wawa Hoagie Day returned to the Wawa Welcome America Fest on Thursday, July 1, after being postponed in 2020. It was scheduled to be held outside at Independence Mall and was moved inside the Constitution Center because of the threat of bad weather. Bill Cosby walked out of state prison on Wednesday afternoon, 6/30, just hours after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction on sexual assault charges. They voted 4-3. 83-year-old Cosby had served over 2 years of a 10-year sentence. He left SCI Phoenix in Montgomery County and returned to his home in Cheltenham just outside Philadelphia.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Monday, June 28, that masks will not be mandatory for students in school buildings come this fall, "absent any dramatic change in our situation before the beginning of the school year." Individual school districts will still be able to implement their own policy. Students will still have to wear masks on school buses. Murphy previously announced that all schools will be returning to full-time, in-person learning.
