Pope Benedict XVI announces plans to come to Philadelphia |

Pope Benedict XVI is planning to come to Philadelphia in 2015 for a world families conference. The Pope announced these plans Sunday at the close of a world families conference in Milan. Archbishop Charles Chaput made a trip to Rome to receive the news from the Pope.

The Phillies seem to be plagued by injuries these days, with a lot of unknowns, and with no end in sight for the biggest injured names of them all.
Roy Halladay is still going to be out 6-8 weeks. He received a second opinion from the Mets' physician this week but is waiting for the results.
Victorino received a Cortisone shot in his hand, sat out yesterday, but is back in the lineup today.

The jury in the federal corruption trial against former senator and two time democractic presidential candidate John Edwards came back deadlocked on all but one of the felony charges brought against him after nine days of deliberations. Edwards is accused of misappropriating close to $1 million in campaign donor funds to hide his pregnant mistress during his 2008 presidential campaign. This morning in Media, the Delaware County Courthouse was evacuated after bomb threat was telephoned into 911 at 9:30 am. The building was evacuated as a precaution and the surrounding area sealed off. More than 45 prisoners were in the courthouse at the time for trials, hearings, etc and were taken back to county prison. Deputies, bomb squad, and bomb sniffing dogs found nothing during their search and court employees went back to work at 1pm.

Philadelphia City Council voted today to allow you to fight parking tickets by mail or online rather than having to show up in person. The vote was unanimous. This would save people a trip to Center City when they want to fight a parking ticket. The bill would force the agency that hears appeals to allow for online or snail mail appeals within six months. It now goes to the desk of the mayor for a signature.
