Thousands of Philadelphians Join 'Million Hoodie March'; Obama calls it a "tragedy" |

Several thousand people marched in Philly from 30th Street Station to Love Park tonight as part of a Philadelphia segment of the "Million Hoodie March." The march's intent was to show support for Trayvon Martin, an African American teenager who was shot-to-death last month while walking home by a neighborhood watch volunteer in his Florida town, and also to bring awareness of the perceived injustice in the case. The watch volunteer has not been charged citing "self-defense".

Former Eagle Wide Receiver Freddie Mitchell, 33, surrendered March 12 voluntarily on tax-fraud charges to authorities in Orlando, FL, and was released on his own recognizance. He was arraigned today and a court date was set for May 1st.

Villanova Junior Guard and Roman Catholic grad Maalik Wayns has decided to forego his Senior season with the Wildcats and try his chances in the 2012 NBA Draft. He originally reserved the right to remove his name by April 10 and return to school like all underclassmen. Now he is all in.

The LA coroner's report has been issued today, ending weeks of speculation into how 48-year-old singer, Whitney Houston, died before she was found submerged in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills Hotel suite on February 11, the day before the Grammy's.
The coroner has ruled Houston's death an accidental drowning. She did have traces of marijuana, the anti-anxiety medication Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril as well as Benadryl in her system. But the coroner's office concluded that... Read More |

SEPTA's Transit Police Suddenly Go On Strike |

Officers with SEPTA's transit police have gone on strike today as of 2pm. SEPTA and the union for the around 220 transit police officers have not been able to reach a settlement regarding the last few points of their contract. The two were in negotiations today when the union decided to strike at the last minute.

Free tickets for the first 10 days of opening of the new Barnes Foundation gallery on Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 20th and 21st Street are still available, but they are going fast according to a foundation spokesperson. She said the greatest chance to get a ticket would be on the nights of Memorial Day weekend, May 26 - 28. Those days offer around the clock access to the gallery. Peyton Manning has decided to sign with the Denver Broncos. Manning was looking around other places and it seemed the Broncos were down the lists, but John Elway was able to persuade Peyton to go to the Mile High city.
