Tonight's Phillies' home game at Citizens' Bank Park vs. the Braves drew an announced paid attendance of 41,655. That was the lowest attendance at a Phillies' game since they beat the Cincinnati Reds 22-1 back on July 6, 2009. That game drew 41,548.
Tonight's dip is historically significant because for each of the 257 regular season games in-between, the games have been 'sold-out'. For CBP, the Phillies count anything over 43,300 as a sellout crowd. The streak is the longest in... Read More |

NASA's latest exploration has reached its target and landed safely on Mars at about 1:34 am EST. Instead of using balloons or parachutes, this landing is using rockets to ensure a smooth landing on the surface of the red planet, but it is very risky. The NASA scientists were able to navigate a perfect landing, however. After a nearly 8 month journey and 570 million km journey from Earth, the rover is ready to go to work.
Costing $2.5 billion, the Curiosity rover is much larger... Read More |

Delta Aquarid Meteor Shower tonight in Philadelphia skies |
|
by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA started: 07/29/12 3:28 am | updated: 07/29/12 3:28 am |
|
Overnight tonight, Saturday July 28 to early morning Sunday July 29th, will be the zenith of the annual Delta Aquarid meteor shower. This shower is not expected to be overwhelmingly prolific because the waxing gibbous moon will be bright in the sky drowning out most of the duller meteors. The full moon is only a few days away on August 2nd.
The moon will be setting after midnight, so you can still head out and try and catch a few. The peak meteor rate for this particular shower... Read More |

It's once more time for the Olympics and over the next 16 days of glory we'll get Bob Costas spinning us a 1000 different human interest stories out of the actual sports that are going on. I do thoroughly enjoy the Olympics for the games, especially since we don't get to see many of these except for every four years. I get enough excitement out of the actual winning, losing, competition, and athletics. I don't care too much about the fluff. That's why the Opening Ceremonies usually don't appeal... Read More |
