A regular traffic stop in Bucks County last week led to a huge $4 million drug bust. Police pulled over a Jeep driving erratically on Dublin Pike in Bedminster Township on January 29 around 11:30 p.m. 28-year-old Christian Ochoa of Texas and 28-year-old Edith Rodriguez Cardenas of California have been arrested for intent to sell drugs. Philadelphia City Council introduced legislation on Thursday, 2/4, in relation to the Citizen Police Oversight Commission approved by voters in the November election. Councilmember Curtis Jones is the main sponsor on the bill. It proposes that the mayor and city council appoint a five-member nominating panel. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf laid out his fiscal year 2021-22 proposed budget and legislative plan on Wednesday, 2/3. The biggest proposal in the $37.8 billion spending plan is for a large increase in public education spending, almost $2 billion that is a 20% increase, with an emphasis on fair and equitable funding. Federal officials have arrested and charged two Bucks County woman for their role in the riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on January 6. A four-alarm blaze broke out on the Ocean City boardwalk on Saturday morning, 1/30. It happened around 7:40 a.m. at Playland's Castaway Cove on the the 1000 block of Boardwalk. Flames and heavy smoke could be seen engulfing the pirate ship atop of the arcade. Hamburger Construction Company and Dairy Queen were also destroyed in the fire. Philadelphia Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle wanted in an hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist. It was caught on another driver's dash cam video.
