Retired Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has been named as the 2019 recipient of the Liberty Medal. A young girl is in critical condition after a firework exploded in her hands inside her Kensington home on Sunday morning, 6/30. It happened around 10:35 a.m. on the 1800 block of East Wishart Street. The 9-year-old girl found the firework, possibly an M80, inside her house. Hahnemann University Hospital says it is no longer accepting trauma patients, however, the emergency room will remain open for now. The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation says they were notified of Hahnemann's decision on Friday night, 6/28. The de-designation as a Level 1 and Level 2 trauma center is effective immediately. A mural dedicated to the late Philadelphia Sgt. Robert Wilson III in 2017 was defaced sometime on Thursday, 6/27. The mural, on the 2900 block of Ridge Avenue in Strawberry Mansion, features a portrait of Wilson in uniform.
