The first four members of Penn State's former Beta Theta Pi fraternity were sentenced Wednesday, 4/3, in the hazing death of Timothy Piazza.
20-year-old Joshua Kurczewski from Erie, pleaded guilty in January to one count of conspiracy to commit hazing, one count of hazing and one count of furnishing liquor to a minor. National Park Service officials announced that beginning on Tuesday, April 2nd, they will be conducting a controlled burn at Valley Forge National Historical Park. The burns could take from two days to one week to complete. The burn will total 135 acres in two distinct meadows in the Grand Parade area near Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and Gulph Road. The initial lineup for the 2019 Made in America has been announced. This year's music fest will once again take place on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway over Labor Day Weekend on Saturday August 31st and Sunday September 1st. Abington Police have arrested a man for impersonating an officer in Montgomery County on March 25th. It happened at 10 p.m. on the 1100 block of Colonial Avenue in the Roslyn section of Abington. 42-year-old Dennis McGowen pulled over a vehicle using flashing white and blue lights on his SUV. The son of a Philadelphia Police Department Chief Inspector was shot and killed on Saturday night, 3/30, while tailgating in FDR Park following the late afternoon Phillies game. A missing New Jersey girl who was a student at the University of South Carolina was found dead just a day after she was reported missing. 21-year-old Samantha Josephson from Robbinsville, NJ, was a senior political science major at the university located in Columbia, South Carolina. A man is now in custody after a barricade situation snarled rush hour in Center City on Friday afternoon, 3/29.
