The standoff between authorities and a suspect in the murder of a Delaware State Trooper ended this morning. Officials say that the suspect exited the house around 9:17 a.m. Thursday and 'engaged police.' Law enforcement then shot him. A jury has sentenced a trooper killer to death in Northeast Pennsylvania. Eric Frein, an anti-government activist who ambushed two Pennsylvania State Troopers in a sniper attack and then led authorities on a 48-day manhunt, was convicted on all 12 charges by the same jury last week. A Delaware State Trooper was shot and killed at a Wawa on Rt. 40 in Bear, DE. It happened after Noon on Wednesday on the 1600 block of Pulaski Highway near Salem Church Road. The trooper was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition, where he died. He has been identified as 32-year-old Cpl./1 Stephen J. Police responded to the report of a shooting at a Wawa on Rt. 40 in Bear, DE. It happened after Noon on Wednesday on the 1600 block of Pulaski Highway near Salem Church Road. The shooting victim is a Delaware State Trooper. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. Multiple state and local agencies are on the scene. Yesterday afternoon, dozens of people riding bicycles took over the busy Vine Street Expressway in Center City. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. along I-676 eastbound. 100 or so kids, teens, and adults riding bikes streamed down the highway pulling stunts and popping wheelies while traffic waiting behind unable to safely pass. Convicted Philadelphia cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal had a hearing in court today in hopes of overturning his previously denied conviction appeals. Abu-Jamal is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. He was originally convicted and sentenced to death in 1982 but that sentence was reduced to life in prison in 2011. Abu-Jamal has used up all his traditional appeals.
