A gunshot rang out during a fight at a Philadelphia high school Friday afternoon. It happened just before noon at Benjamin Franklin High School on North Broad Street in the Spring Garden section. A group of students were fighting in a stairwell when the shot was fired. Officials found a spent shell casing but no gun. The school was put on lockdown as they searched the rest of the school. At a press conference this afternoon, Mayor Jim Kenney thanked Philadelphians for their patience as the snow cleanup is ongoing. He said that they hope to have all the streets plowed by end of day Wednesday, telling those on side streets that they are coming. Street parking will remain free tomorrow, Tuesday, at meters and kiosks but safety violations like parking in front of a fire hydrant will be ticketed. The Blizzard of 2016 was one for the record books. The official number at the Philadelphia International Airport was 22.4 inches, making this the 4th largest snowfall in Philadelphia history. The two feet of snow around the region calls for a lot of shoveling, plowing, and snow blowing. A Blizzard Warning will now go into effect from Friday at 7 p.m. to Sunday at 10 a.m. The storm is coming in earlier and the National Weather Service has increased the expected snow totals in our area to 18-24". A Chester County man is under arrest and charged with the murder of his grandmother and the attempted rape of both his mother and grandmother. 23-year-old Kevin Havelow returned home to the 100 block of Irwin Drive in Lower Oxford where they all live along with his sister sometime after midnight Tuesday. A 4-alarm fire ripped through a 3-story apartment building in Center City this evening. It started around 5:40 p.m. at 2122 Locust Street near Rittenhouse Square. Around 20 people were evacuated from the building. The fire quickly grew going to 3-alarms at 6:28 p.m. and 4-alarms right after at 6:35 p.m. Firefighters had to deal with the frigid temperatures in the 20's and the brisk winds gusting up to 20. Philadelphia Police have identified the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of one homeless shelter worker and the injuring of another worker early in the morning on Sunday.
