Two city employees are under arrest on alleged DUI charges after an early morning crash Saturday involving city owned vehicles. The employees are Robin Jones, an aide to Darrell Clarke the President of the City Council, and Sergeant-at-arms Rodney Williams. Jones lost control of her city-owned vehicle and crashed into a wall at 13th and Hamilton around 3 am. She called Williams who came to the scene in his city-owned vehicle. St. Joseph University has purchased the Cardinal's mansion from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for $10 million. The residence has been the home for Philadelphia archbishops since it was purchased in the 1930's by Dennis Cardinal Dougherty for $115,000. The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards tonight were moved back an hour so that everyone could switch over and watch President Obama's Democratic National Convention speech. I wonder how many people actually made the switch, or just stayed on to watch the immediate replay of the awards. A US Airways flight bound for Dallas, TX was diverted back to Philadelphia International Airport this morning after a telephone tip was received by police that a passenger on the plane may have explosives. That call was later deemed a hoax, but not until after the plane returned to Philadelphia and SWAT stormed the passenger cabin. Mayor Michael Nutter is in Charlotte, NC, for the Democratic National Convention. Nutter, who is the President of the United States Conference of Mayors, is just one of a many US mayors in attendance. He is expected to take the podium Thursday night. The Kimmel Center opened it's renovated Dorrance Hamilton Rooftop Garden today. The 6,200 sq-ft space sits atop the Perelman Theater. The glass encased hall underwent $6 million in renovations to make it usable throughout the year. During the months from May-October it would just become too hot high up in the atrium, and event noise from the 200 person private room would leak out into the performance halls below. Bruce Springsteen played another sold out show Monday night at Citizens' Bank Park September 3nd, 2012. This was the second of two nights he is playing in Philadelphia this Labor Day Weekend. Despite the rain both nights, Bruce fans came out and were treated to another great one from The Boss.

Sunday broke on the Parkway to cloudy skies and intermittent rain showers, but that didn't damper the spirits of the fans who were ready to tackle the second day of the Made in America Festival.
